WASTE
COLLECTION
Compendium and Exhibition Proposal
A catalogue of discarded rubbish and vintage newspaper clippings collected over 60 years and stored in a set of box files by Armstrong’s late father. An obsessive collector and hoarder, his father used this collection as a resource for his job in advertising as an Art Director and for his own edification.
A body of work that engages and transcends its materiality, acting as a silent witness to our reality, giving form to our collective memory and a testimony to the past. By curating his fathers archives Armstrong hopes to give poetic form to his fathers collection allowing it to act as an obituary and testimony to a different time.
