COLLAGE ART
Using a variety of found objects, newspaper clippings and artefacts collected over many years to create compositions which take on new meaning and significance, without ever losing their original identity.
ONE BOX
‘One Box’ (2020) consists of multiple collages assembled from the contents of an A2 Agfa Copy Proof box, collected over many years by Armstrong’s late father, an impulsive hoarder, who kept everything from discarded litter, food cartons to newspaper clipping’s, along with an assortment of paraphernalia meticulously archived in the box. These ‘objects of obsession’ have become the building blocks for Armstrong’s art, acting as an obituary to the past.
